As the nation gets back into the swing of things after a big 4 day weekend, many are looking ahead to the next one.
Thankfully, ANZAC day is only a couple of weeks away.
However, for those current affairs consumers amongst us, that couple of weeks looks set to be quite noisy.
This comes after decorated solider Ben Roberts-Smith was arrested today over multiple war crimes.
The Victoria Cross recipient was arrested at Sydney Airport and is expected to be charged with five counts of the war crime of murder relating to his time serving in Afghanistan between 2009 and 2012.
Of course the arrest has kicked the hornet's nest in the news cycle, with a flurry of op-eds and angry comment sections all across the internet.
That noise is of course only set to continue, as journos, noise merchants and hot take terrace house residents get set to chase as much dopamine as possible from the online interaction they get when they say inflammatory things.
"Yeah, it's gonna be a fun news cycle," sighed one local office worker who frequently breaks up his tasks by browsing the news.
"I think I'm gonna have to ban myself from the comment section."
"For my own good."
More to come.
