For just over two months, a Betoota Heights man has tried to play with his phone with Netflix in the background, the news, various commercial television programmes and even the radio.
But it was never as good as having the footy on in the background, he says.
“Whenever you hear one of the commentators, probably Gus, start yelling and carrying on, you can just look up from your phone to see some winger getting tackled into touch or scoring a sick try,” said Sam Jensen, of Greenbow Street.
“There’s nothing I like more than curling up on the couch with a full charge and the NRL on the tele. Nothing better. Maybe a bowl of potato gems covered in smokey BBQ sauce. A cold tin of gold,”
“It’s been a long time.”
