WRONG TOWN FOR THAT: The ever-spreading Greater Sydney virus is going to face its biggest challenge yet, after stumbling into one of the hardest towns in Outback NSW.

Yesterday it was revealed that positive case has been recorded in the remote northwest NSW community of Walgett, triggering a snap lockdown in eight local government areas.

However, health experts say the virus may have bitten of more than it can chew by showing its face in ‘The Gate’ – a town with a reputation for not mucking around.

NSW Health has confirmed stay-at-home restrictions in the area will take effect from 7pm on Wednesday and last until the morning of Wednesday next week.

New restrictions have been introduced for residents inside the following towns: Bogan, Bourke, Brewarrina, Coonamble, Gilgandra. Narromine, Walgett, Warren.

Residents of the eight far-west NSW regions are now expected to follow the same restrictions as those that are in place across the rest of the state.

This means outdoor public gatherings limited to two people, people must stay in their town or within 10km of home for exercise and outdoor recreation.

Browsing in shops is prohibited, plus only one person per household may leave the home for shopping.
Masks are compulsory in all indoor non-residential settings, including workplaces.

Without point too many fingers (at Gladys and Scotty) it has also been revealed today that of course Walgett has completely underresourced health services, with hardly any vaccine supplies, masks or ventilators.

While health experts worry that this virus might cause a lot of damage to the vulnerable living in this region, there is confidence that the people of Walgett will be able to put a hiding on this virus like it’s never seen.

Former Manly Sea Eagles nut-trucker and unofficial spokesman for Walgett, Gorgeous George Rose spoke to the Betoota Advocate earlier about this developing situation in his town.

“We’ve got the hand santiser ready and we’ve got the aunties doing up home made masks out of old WAC jerseys as we speak”

“This is the same town that won 6 Koori Knock Outs remember?”

“Walgett is gonna flog this thing like a race 5 favourite at the Jockey Club”
