As the only town in the Australia that is truly invested in all codes of football equally, the people of Wagga Wagga now need to make a critical decision about whether they are going to blow out on Saturday or Sunday night.

The fact that New South Wales have a public holiday on Monday is making this decision a lot harder than it usually would be.

“I mean, both grand finals are between some of the most uninspiring teams in both codes” says one local racehorse owner, Ted Belly.

“But, If I’m backing one, it’s gonna be the pies. Mainly because I like that everyone hates them. People from Wagga Wagga can really relate to that”

However, Ted’s mate, Matty reckons they should save their drinking for the NRL grand final.

“C’mon mate. Melbourne is closer to Wagga than any of those other clubs. And I look good in purple”

“I’d do both, but these days I’m only good for one blow-out a weekend”

Unable to make a decision, the two residents join the rest of the town at the pub for an over the top Friday night session, one that will probably result in them taking it easy on both Saturday and Sunday.

“Still haven’t decided” says Teddy, as he orders a round of six Tooheys Olds.
