A Brisbane man has lamented the fate of Australias struggling farm workers over the weekend, whilst flipping the nameless $4 steaks that he picked up from the deli at his local Coles supermarket.
Curtis Stoner (45) from Albany Creek, really empathised with his rural counterparts, wondering how the situation could possibly have become so dire, and why no one seems to be helping.
“It’s a crying shame” said Stoner, who used the money he saved on the steaks to lash out and try a fancy craft beer. “Who let this happen? Thats what I want to know”.
The sentiment was echoed by fellow barbecue attendee Oliver James (37), who befriended Stoner during their stint in the mines, bonding over their shared love of high-powered watercraft.
“It’s that real ‘out-of-sight-out-of-mind’ mentality” said James. “These tight-arse big businesses’ll do anything to compete”.
Stoner, who was one of strong adversaries of the plastic bag ban, added “Plus these pollies don’t care, they wouldn’t even know what it’s like to do it tough”
As the two men moved Curtis’s twice-used Seadoo into the corner of the yard, their conversation had clearly given them a sense of Aussie mate-ship and solidarity that no amount of money could buy.
