Unsinkable radio titan Kyle Sandilands has joined the voices condemning Triple M’s Marty Sheargold this week as the Triple M confirms they’ve let the big Canberran go.

In an impassioned telephone call through to his own show, Sandilands told listeners from his hospital bed as he recovers from brain surgery that Sheargold’s comments “chilled his blood” and “were over the top”.

“Look, I like most Australians were sickened and disappointed by Marty’s comments,” Sandilands said.

“That’s too far, man. Even for me. Even for me. I just hope that he’s genuinely sorry for those remarks. I think he has a lot of growing up to do,”

“I’m not going to lie here and pretend that, you know, I’m Chris Bath or Jon Fane. I’m not a saint by any measure but I think that Martin just doesn’t get it. He doesn’t. And it’s a shame. I hope he learns from this and becomes a better person.”

King Kyle has been embroiled in numerous controversies throughout his career.

In 2009, he was dismissed from ‘Australian Idol’ after a radio segment featured a teenage girl revealing her sexual assault experience during a lie detector test.

That same year, he faced backlash for suggesting comedian Magda Szubanski could lose weight in a concentration camp.

In 2011, Sandilands called a journalist a “fat slag” following a negative review, leading to an investigation by the Australian Communications and Media Authority.

He has also been criticised for derogatory remarks about the Virgin Mary in 2019 and for labelling monkeypox as a “big gay disease” in 2022.

Despite these incidents, Sandilands continues to maintain a significant presence in Australian media. Just how he has done it, only he knows.

More to come.
