Just four weeks into the school term, a Betoota Grove teacher has expressed the need for a holiday – and she needs it now.

With the carrot of a two-week break over Easter the only thing keeping her going, Mrs Melissa Gowings, a Year 3 teacher at Beach Avenue Public School, said it’s been hard to transition back into work mode after the summer break.

“I’m exhausted,” she told our reporter.

“Honestly, I’m absolutely fucked. These little bastards really take it out of you. It’s not their fault, though. It rained today, too, so I had them inside for recess and lunch so I didn’t even get any respite from them,”

“I need a fucking holiday and I need it now.”

While some in The Advocate’s newsroom were quick to roll their eyes at Mrs Gowings’ plight, others weren’t so reticent to pass their judgement.

In the run up to the start of the school term, chronic and historic underfunding on behalf of both sides of this pathetic, corrupt parliament forced her to reach into her own pocket to cover the teaching supply gap.

Coupled with the amount of work the tired Gemini has to take home each night to complete, it’s little wonder why Gowings is so exhausted.

However, she should try coal mining or farming if she really wants to know what tired is, according to a local coal-mining farmer.

His opinion can be downloaded from The Advocate’s website or found in any bin around town.

More to come.
