Local woman Samantha (28) has been left feeling like an outsider in her own peer group as her previously unacquainted friends Diane (29) and Edwina (32) instantly clicked due to being part of a popular Facebook group that she probably wouldn’t get.

Not wanting to assume they would automatically bond over their shared race, Gordon was delighted to see her two token Asian friends from separate social circles were getting along well.

“Wonder what they’re laughing about,” mused Gordon as she went to the bar by herself.

“Three mojitos please.”

Upon returning to the table, Gordon asked her new friends what it was they were laughing about causing an awkward silence before Diane made vague references to a Facebook group they are both on before thanking Gordon for the drinks.

“Oh yeah? Good group?”

“Yep,” stated Edwina as she took a sip.

“Ooh this is making me tipsy already!”

“Haha, me too!” laughed Diane.

“Yep, me as well!” blurted Gordon, making the table silent once again.

“So what’s this group about hey?”

Backed into a corner, Diane and Edwina admitted them were part of a Facebook group called “Asian Dating Confessions” a closed group of 280,000 English speaking Asians from various first world countries.

Feeling increasingly left out, Gordon went on to bring up her stopover in Singapore and the one time she got the wrong order at a Chinese restaurant but ate it anyway while Edwina and Diane added each other on Facebook and waited for Gordon to go to the toilet so they could talk about the group again.
