As of next month, residential developers building in Sydney city will be required to fit out all high-rises with an emergency tube of selleys no more gaps.

This comes as concerned property owners grow nervous about the cracks appearing in the low-quality materials that were used to build thousands of overnight apartments over the last decade.

In bizarre twist, Gladys Berejiklian has today come out in defence of the everyday NSW families and criticised developers – following the second evacuation of a residential Sydney high-rise this year.

The NSW premier has called on strata and building managers to “step up” as distressed unit owners in a cracked Sydney building come to terms with the $1 million-plus bill for emergency repairs to prevent residents from being crushed alive by a high-rise tower that was built way too quickly.

Mascot Towers, in the city’s south, joins Homebush’s Opal Towers as the most recent skyscraper neighbourhood to be evacuated on Friday night – after engineers became concerned about cracks in the primary support structure and facade masonry of the 10-year-old building.

After brief discussions with her construction developer advisors, the Premier has decided that an emergency tube of Selleys in each building’s fire exit will be enough to hold off the imminent housing crash and subsequent Royal Commission into forced urban sprawl.

“It’s time to show some corporate responsibility” said the Premier.

“I know most of these building companies disappear the moment the project is complete, so from now on all developers must provide a tube of no more gaps, to help with the cracks”

“Anyway, let’s talk about State of Origin!!!”
