A bloke who regularly rewatches his favourite childhood movies has proven to be an expert in cognitive dissonance, as he fails to see the similarities between the villains he despises and the billionaires he idealises.
As a huge fan of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter, which all centre on oppressed communities fighting against evil overlords who want to destroy the world and oppress anyone who disagrees with them, Charlie Clarke, 40, is still somehow an unswervingly supporter of Donald Trump and Elon Musk and their MAGA henchmen.
With pretty much every fantasy and dystopian series he grew up having themes of power struggles, class wars, environmentalism and eugenics, Charlie is still struggling to connect the dots on how two blokes who have created a cabinet filled with white nationalists and sexual predators benefits might not be the heroes of this story.
“So are Palpatine, Darth Vader and the stormtroopers the bad guys?”, asks our reporter.
Charlie nods.
“And Sarumen, Sauron and the orcs are the bad guys?”
“Yeah duh.”
“And Voldemort, Bellatrix and the death eaters. They’re all evil, right?”
“Yeah, are you fucking dumb?”
More to come.
