Guests at a local house party this evening are being subjected to an unsolicited performance from a bloke who reckons he’s pretty handy on the guitar.

Despite not getting much encouragement or attention, Monty Atkins (24) picked up the guitar and asked the few people who were paying attention to him what song they’d like to hear.

It’s believed the guests threw out classics like Thunderstruck, Smoke On The Water, even Fast Car, but their suggestions were all met with the same dismissive response, something about not being right for the vibe.

“How about I just play one every knows?” suggested Monty.

“I’m a bit rusty though, so cut me some slack”

Monty then shocked no one by strumming the opening few notes of Green Day’s 1997 hit Time Of Our Lives, followed by some very mediocre and pained sounding vocals.

“Annooother turning point, a forrrk stuck in the rooaaaddd”

According to friends of Monty’s, he used to pull the same stunt at house parties during high school, only back then people would be impressed by him, now it’s just sad.

“He’s been playing the same songs for 8 years”

“And each time he plays them chicks get less and less interested”

“But fuck, we just let him play because it makes him feel important”

With one more chorus to sing, it’s clear that Monty is gearing up to continue into another song no one wants to hear.

More to come.
