Nationals MP George Christensen has lashed out across the party room this afternoon, branding his colleagues who don’t have a set of truck nuts dangling from their car ‘latte inner-city Liberals’.

The extraordinary attack comes after nobody else in his party seems to understand that the Member for Dawson was elected on a strong pro-truck nut, making the current attitude toward truck nits in the Coalition quite problematic to his reelection campaign this year.

Speaking this afternoon to the media in Mackay, the barnstorming Cancerian said he’s had truck nuts on his Proton Jumbuck ever since he bought the thing some 20 years ago – and that’ll never change.

“There’s only a handful of us left in the federal Coalition who stand by truck nuts, which is very sad,” said Christensen.

“Barnaby has truck nuts on his Cruiser. Mark [Coulton] has truck nuts on his Mini Countryman and my Queensland compadre David Littleproud has a two pairs of truck nuts, one on the front and one on the back of his Great Wall Steed,”

“Brave men. Truck nut men.”

The Advocate reached out to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for comment on the Nationals truck nut policy and immediately received an autoreply message.

It read as follows:

“Hello Valued Member of the Media,

If you’re writing to us about our party’s truck nut policy, please check back later. Otherwise, enjoy this short animation of Gina Rinehart chokeslamming Malcolm Turnbull off the cage and through Jerry Lawler’s lifeless corpse at the commentary table.

Happy Easter!”

More to come.
