The Prime Minister’s decision to delay the election is starting to cause problems for the Federal Opposition, as Liberal Party leader Peter Dutton struggles to maintain the momentum and electability that he has enjoyed ever since taking down the Indigenous Voice proposal.

But now that the Australian media are no longer lining up to give him a warm huge for simply existing – questions are being asked about what the Liberal Party stands for.

Other than tax-deductible long lunches for corporate bosses and an extremely vague nuclear power plan that will cost nearly a trillion dollars, Australians do not know what they are getting with Dutton.

And previous efforts to emulate the increasingly chaotic US President are now working against the Leader Of The Opposition, as voters label him ‘Temu Trump’.

Yesterday’s freshwater polls show Dutton is now less popular than he has been in two years. Perhaps this is the reason why he suddenly announced plans for another $450 million referendum that nobody in his party had any idea about.

According to yesterday’s brain fart, Peter Dutton wants to asks Australians to return to the ballot to decide whether or not he should be allowed to deport the handful of foreign-born criminals that the High Court refuses to let him strip of citizenship.

Nobody in his party knew about this, and not even One Nation think this is a worthy pursuit.

However, it looks more and more as though Peter Dutton thinks this fast and loose brand of politics will carve him out a path to victory.

With not much else up his sleeve other than populist knee-jerk announcements, The leader of the Opposition says maybe we should do a couple referendums. Maybe another one on whether or not it’s gay to talk about mental health.

If it is found to be gay, then he believes that’s something the government should distance itself from.

As medicare looks set to receive a vital boost in funding, Peter Dutton is trying to gauge whether Australians are as interested in talking about mental health as all of the charities would suggest they are? Or is this all leftie waffle. Either way, life would be a lot easier for his party if he wasn’t constantly being asked to do more for traumatised war veterans and other families coping with mental illness.

Peter Dutton has revealed that he will be voting YES in this referendum.
