The Advocate has obtained some shocking, reports from within the Catholic Church revealing that they not only asked priests to donate half of their JobKeeper allowance to their diocese, but said if priests didn’t make the donation then God would no longer turn a blind eye to any child sex offenses.

According to the reports, priests received a letter asking them to hand back between $500 – $700 of their fortnightly taxpayer-funded payments to help the church make up for a drop in donations from parishioners.

The letter went on to say that “should you choose not to assist your diocese in these trying times, then you leave us no choice but to cease shielding your extra-curricular activities from the public…But, of course, this is voluntary”

This request from the Catholic Church actually comes as quite a surprise to religious commentators, who explained that one of the Church’s fundamental principles is to help the poor.

“It’s disgusting that the Church would even consider pocketing this money to boost its balance sheets, when there are poor people – brainwashed people – in their community who couldn’t even get any government hand-outs in the first place.”

More to come.
