The residents of South East Queensland remain vigilant today, as businesses and public transport remains closed due to extreme weather predictions.
Tropical Cyclone Alfred weakened to a tropical low as it made landfal early this morning, but even without the storm surge, almost 250,000 homes and businesses are without power.
The region still remains on high alert with 800mm of rainfall predicted overnight.
It is not yet certain whether this weekend will be spent running as fast as possible and jumping onto a boogie board and skimming in the park or backyard, or if it will be spent with shovels in hand as part of the iconic Brisbane mud army.
“We don’t know yet” said one Brisbane resident Bowen Highgate (44).

With the rain set to pick up tonight, the city of Brisbane waits cautiously to find out if this is gonna be a fun memory for the River City, or a destructive climate-changed aided disaster that only Queenslanders can recover from.
