A bloke who had been aptly warned that his Dine and Discover vouchers were about to expire, has royally fucked up by getting the dates wrong and going ahead without double checking.

Issued by the NSW government to help businesses during the pandemic, Dine and Discover offered residents $75 in vouchers to spend on food and $75 in vouchers for tourism and the arts.

Though over a third were not redeemed, it’s reported roughly $550 million worth of vouchers had been used, with such a large number redeemed within the last 24 hours, that it caused the NSW service app to crash.

John Forrester [32] unfortunately just missed out on the offer, but luckily was able to come up with his own free restaurant experience that was arguably even more fun than the one offered by the government and managed to combine entertainment and food – Dine and Dash.

John reports that he was onto his last $7 and had ‘already descretated the fillet mignon and glass of wine’ before he realised his mistake, giving him no other option but to pretend he was ducking off to the loo and making a swift exit.

Describing the experience as both ‘frightening and exhilarating’, John says he’s very grateful for the government for letting him have this one, and that he’s even considering doing it again.

More to come.
