Jocelyn Leigh (25) has appeased her conscience this afternoon after making a food-related compromise.

A few weeks ago the young accounts manager at a boutique firm in the French Quarter made a promise to herself that she would be giving up chocolate for the foreseeable future.

However, it had been a long day at work, with one of the colleagues she was hot desking next too attempting to make conversation about the weekend incessantly, and she was beginning to feel like she needed a little treat.

So while she was picking up some green vegetables at the supermarket to try and replenish her body after the weekend, she stumbled upon a conundrum.

That conundrum was to buy, or not to buy chocolate. To go with the red.

To stay strong and committed to her pledge to give up chocolate, or to reward her brain with a serotonin release.

After a few moments of staring at the confectionary section, Leigh made the compromise.

Dark chocolate.

Not the full sugar full gluttony Cadbury milk version that would leave her feeling remorseful for her lack of willpower, but the 85% Cocoa Lindt version that would leave her feeling like she made a smart and sensible decision.

“I feel a lot better about myself. All of my housemates will give me heaps of shit for caving, and it’s probably not much better for me than normal chocolate, but you have to find a way to sleep at night don’t you,” she said to our reporters.
