Australia is facing a critical shortage of actors but a new miniseries announced today aims to tackle that problem head-on.

The nation’s five actors are joining forces again to tell the story of a criminal from yesteryear who gets up to no good along the way – yet somehow remains relatable and even lovable at some points.

The tale of Eoin McKeon, a down-on-his-luck Irishman with amnesia finds himself in 1890’s Brisbane with just his charisma and a handful of shillings to his name, will come grace the nation’s small screens early next year.

At the time of print, the production is still unnamed but all five of the nation’s actors have signed onto the landmark series.

The Mitchell College Monsoon Brendan Cowell will play the lead and do it well. Ben Mendelson will play the antagonist. Claudia Karvan will largely carry the production and save it from Underbelly Squizzy levels of woe. Asher Keddie will win the Gold Logie playing the role of Eoin’s mysterious piano teacher who is also a Canadian spy. Dan Wylie will die in the first episode but his ghost will reappear to spook Eoin repeatedly.

The Advocate reached out to the production company, Shiny Endemol Screenworks, for comment but have yet to receive a reply.

More to come.
