The makers of the NRL’s premier retailer of all rugby league accessories are now rapidly extending their range to COVID-19 protective-wear.

Steeden, or ‘Stoydin’ as they are known to ‘rugba leg’ fans, has this week unveiled a collection of ‘NRL Round Two, 2020’ themed merchandise.

The new designs include club-branded hand sanitiser, studded boot covers, and now the new headgearmask to commemorate the bizarre chapter in history known as ‘Round Two, 2020’.

Round 2 of the 2020 NRL season will be played behind closed doors after Prime Minister Scotty From Marketing announced today that the ban on outdoor gatherings of more than 500 people could last at least six months.

Morrison addressed the media on Wednesday morning to announce a raft of new restrictions aimed at combatting the spread of coronavirus in Australia.

The NRL is set to go ahead, because it will go broke if it doesn’t, and are currently exploring several different resorts in remote Queensland with the capacity to house all players for the rest of the season.

However, the private jets and exclusive resorts currently being negotiated by the NRL board represent a lot of man hours that could all be for nothing the moment one player tests positive to the virus.

It’s because of this that Steeden have moved quickly to develop a model of headgear that will also include a face mask, so as to protect players from contracting COVID-19 during the big hits and melees.

Knights star Kalyn Ponga will be the first player to run out in the new headgearmask in this week’s spectator-free match at Leichardt Oval.

The 21-year-old Queensland representative and well-known ‘headgear guy’ says that as a fashionista, he doesn’t mind the matte black design for the mask – but says the possibilities are endless.

“You could put a Crusader-themed basinet design on the mask for the Knights players” said Kalyn, who is colloquially referred to as ‘the Alex Perry of NRL’.

“Or some whiskers from the Rabbitohs one”

“Maybe a Gucci print for the Penrith boys”
