In an incredible turn of events, Rugby League Chairman St Peter V’Landys has missed the NRL kick-off.

Despite pulling the strings to orchestrate the return of greatest game of all, the Godfather of the NRL hasn’t been able to make the kick-off between Brisbane and Parramatta, for the baptism of a nephew.

Speaking exclusively to The Advocate V’Landys explained that he doesn’t need to be at the kickoff because everything’s in place.

“The referees, the ball boys, the broadcasters, everything is in place,” explained Don V’Landys.

“I don’t have to be there, everything is in order. Everything that is being done needs to be done.”

When asked about the whereabouts of Gillon McLachlan and his condition, V’Landys refused to comment.

“I’m just at a baptism, I’m not sure what you mean by that,” he explained.

The line then went dead.
