While there is a little bit of soul searching going on in the state of Queensland this morning, it can be confirmed that one man south of the border is in a particularly good mood.

The iconic One-Eyed-Blue known as Phil ‘Gus’ Gould is reportedly on top of the world, after his state worked with the referee to level up the State of Origin Series.

The 44-12 result over in the Democratic People’s Republic of Western Australia has resulted in the big fella certainly feeling a lot more pleased than he was a couple of weeks ago.

That result came off the back of NSW scoring 36 unanswered points after the referee decided to make things fair and force Queensland to play with a man down.

The loss for the Maroons will force a decider at Lang Park, where there is now a strong chance that Gus will be left in a similar position to the end of Game One, where he sat on the sidelines and treated TV viewers to a fair sulk.

“At least Gus is in a better mood,” laughed one Queensland man today.

“That was the mother of all sulks when he had to chat to Munny after his matchwinning performance in Game One.”

“So good for him to have something to cheer about I guess.”

“Even though it won’t last long.”

Fellow Channel 9 pundit Fatty Vautin was contacted for comment on the story, but simply just gave us 2 minutes of head wobbles with his tongue poked out slightly.

More to come.
