Rugby League supremo Phil ‘Gus’ Gould has today biten the bullet and told the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs to cut the shit.

With the club rocked by another shocking start to the NRL season, Gus has apparently told power brokers to ‘just give him the fucking whistle.’

This comes after Trent Barrett ‘stood down’ as coach of the Bulldogs after leading them to an underwhelming 2-8 start to the season.

That left Barrett with a 5-29 record as head coach of the club, with one of those wins coming after Gus Gould sensationally ran a training session himself.

As a result of that astounding result against the Sydney Roosters, Gus has apparently informed the Dogs bosses that he’s driving until the end of the season.

“Just give me the keys,” said Gould this morning.

“Bloody hell, this whole thing is just a mess, so it’s time for a straight shooter to take over and get us back in the good books of the Footy Gods.”

It’s believed Gould doesn’t foresee an issue with his commentary requirements, with the former Panthers, Roosters and Origin coach more that happy to commentate while he coaches.

“I’m usually coaching while I commentate, so it shouldn’t be too hard at all,” said Gus.

“This day and age, there’s not a lot of common sense, so I’m just taking charge here to get this famous club back on the right track.”

More to come.
