The coach of a lower mid-tier rugby league team has today told reporters that 2022 should be a good year.

Anthony Brennen, the coach of the NRL team that’s finished outside the final 8 for the 4th year in a row told media at what will hopefully be his second-last conference for the year, that he’s really looking forward to what next year brings.

“Look there are some really promising signs there,” said the coach of a team that strung together most of their wins when it became apparent their hopes of finals were all but over.

“We’ve got a really good group of guys there, and they are building nicely ahead of next season, so I’m really hopeful,” Brennen explained.

“Obviously this year didn’t go our way, but I think that if all goes to plan next year, we won’t be having this conversation in 12 months time,” said the man quoting directly from the Coach’s Bible.

“We all know what we need to do, and everyone’s aiming to come back refreshed to put in a really big preseason and have a proper crack next year.”

“So, yes, things are looking really promising, and if the boys can behave themselves than we might be a chance of going out in the first week of finals next year.”

He then answered all following question in a relatively combative manner and ended the conference.
