A Year 11 English teacher has been slammed by the community, teacher, parents and students alike for not wearing a bright pair of eccentric reading glasses like every other Year 11 English teacher.

“We’ve had this brought to our attention by many members of the community and we want to assure everyone that we are doing our best to fix the issue” said the school principal on the school’s WhatsApp group.

“I’m beside myself, quite frankly, to think my son has been taught by this ‘teacher’ for the last 2 terms and we’re only finding out about this now” decried one parent.

The woman at the centre of the storm, Clare Beaumont (33), has struggled to find a valid excuse for not wearing bright red, 1950’s pin-up girl style glasses.

“I have 20/20 vision, I didn’t think I would still be expected to wear quirky glasses!” the disgraced teacher pleaded.

Clare, a white, upper middle class woman with a love of classic literature and coffee shops that are inside Dymocks stores, admits she was foolish for not toeing the line and wearing extremely loud glasses that forced everyone that looked at her to do a double take.

“Looking back, I should have done better, I accept that.”

“I’ve let the school down, but more importantly I’ve let my students down” Clare said.

Parents, meanwhile, are still reeling from the ordeal, feeling like their children have missed out on a true Australian high school English class experience.

“We aren’t going to get these years back, we feel like we’ve been robbed as a family. The entire school faculty dropped the ball massively” one mother said while trying to hold back tears.

Meanwhile, Ms Beaumont has reportedly been seen browsing vintage eyewear shops, hoping to rebuild trust within the community.
