A Betoota Heights woman who thinks moving to a new city will magically solve all her problems has unfortunately failed to realise that she can’t outrun the real problem – herself.

Figuring that living in Betoota was the source of all her problems, Gwen Lewisham, 28, found herself uprooting her life to move to Melbourne (a rite of passage for most young Aussie woman) for a much needed change of environment.

But after a year of living in the city with four seasons a day, Gwen still finds herself feeling restless and dealing with all the same shit she had to deal with back home, only now she has to pay more rent.

“I don’t know, I thought life would just magically come together if I moved to Melbourne”, admits Gwen, “but I still don’t have a core friendship group or a boyfriend. And my job sucks.”

Gwen says that she reckons the Melbourne dating scene is dead, and that Brisbane and Sydney don’t seem much better either.

“Yeah so apparently Melbourne guys just aren’t it”, says Gwen, who recently dated a guy who still had his ex in his Instagram profile picture, “I think maybe I’m more suited to a European guy.”

When pressed about her next steps, Gwen is confident that a simple change in geography would erase years of unresolved personal issues.

“I’m tossing up between London or Berlin because I love art, music and like, moody weather”, explains Gwen, basically describing Melbourne, “I just have a feeling that’s where I should be.”

More to come.
