Sitting on her couch while she stares at her blank TV screen, local woman Anita Hartwig begins her most ambitious mental gymnastics yet – operation ‘get Tom to fall in love with me.’

Despite having a number of eager suitors who would happily give her the time and effort she longs for, Anita finds herself enthralled with yet another emotionally unavailable bloke, which likely stems from her own emotional unavailability, deep seated intimacy issues, and look, yeah probably something to do with her relationship with her father.

Because at the end of the day, we tend to seek comfort in familiar patterns, even if it’s not healthy for us at all

BREAK THE CYCLE ANITA.

Pinballing between the logical option and her irrational infatuation with a bloke that can’t even be bothered messaging her full sentences, Anita tries to figure out what she should do.

“If I continue seeing him and then it doesn’t go anywhere, it’s going to really really hurt”, muses Anita.

“But then again, surely it’s not possible for him to see someone for such a long time and not fall in love?” She adds, failing to factor in that Tom is likely very good at compartmentalising.

“I could be wasting my time…I do like him a lot though…he did kiss me on the forehead that one time, surely that means something?”

“Hmm.”

Ignoring the warning signal screaming in the pit of her stomach, Anita reasons that she doesn’t need to make a decision just yet.

“I think he does like me, he’s just afraid of his feelings.”

“Yep, that’s it.”

More to come.
