A local waitress learnt the true meaning of regret today after asking a table of Americans if everything is OK with their meal.

Due to having an ideal tropical climate, Betoota welcomes dozens of international tourists each year who flock to see attractions such as Muggles Hop Farm, the Brick Museum and Sydney Harbour (note, not all attractions listed are actually in Betoota).

This tourism trade has seen tourist friendly cafes such as The Friendly Mugger flourish by offering modern Aussie classics at cash-only prices.

“Try out our famous meat pies,” stated waitress Shania Gibbs.

“They are made by a local woman called Mrs Mac.”

Not realising that her job was hard enough as is, Gibbs stopped by a table of American tourists and asked ‘if everything was OK’ and was met with a slew of honest answers.

“After I explained to them the pie was meant to have meat in it, they couldn’t get their head around why ‘the sauce on the side’ was 20 cents extra and asked why I wasn’t wearing a name tag.”

“They then asked for a refill even though they were sitting next to the drinks fridge. I started walking away but they just started yelling like I’d brought them the wrong thing, which I had but seriously who goes on about that?”

Wanting to avoid customers who are used to being served by people who will slip into poverty if not adequately tipped, Gibbs was sure to avoid the table for the rest of her shift, even as they sat there demanding the bill be brought to them.

“Even though they were filthy with me they still left me a tip! Honestly, what a bunch of fucks!”

MORE TO COME.
