Aussie women who were planning on having a European holiday this year have declared US president Donald Trump as public enemy number one, as his high reciprocal tariffs on China have wreaked havoc on the Aussie dollar, it’s reported.
As of writing, one Aussie dollar is equivalent to just 0.55 Euro, which is the lowest it’s fallen since the pandemic. This is due to the Aussie dollar being inextricably linked to Yuan, as our exports are dependent on China’s purchasing power.
The Advocate speaks to a few local women who have been affected by Trump’s latest unhinged decision.
“I accepted I would never be able to buy a house, so I thought I’d just invest more in experiences”, says Tara Miller, a 34 year old woman living in Betoota Ponds, “so a few months ago I decided to book a ticket to Berlin.”
“But if the exchange rate remains this low, or god forbid, goes lower, my holiday is fucked.”
Another woman, Abbey McViety, 28, says she totally feels bad for all the people who’ve lost a shit tonne on the ASX, and you know, ‘superannuation and stuff’, but she’s mostly upset about her upcoming trip to Barcelona.
“I mean, I hated the cunt already, but what the actual fuck? Is there any method to this madness, or is he crippling the economy on purpose so all his rich mates can buy all the stocks for a low price?”
“I’m sick of living in interesting times!”
More to come.
