Brisbane Airport has once again proven itself to be the nation’s premier cultural crossroads after local Roll’d staff unveiled a new menu item designed specifically for the Queensland palate.

Available now at the domestic terminal, the “Spag Bol Roll” features cold fusilli pasta and bolognese beef mince wrapped tightly in rice paper with a sprig of coriander.

According to the store manager, the item was introduced following repeated requests from customers asking if they had anything a bit less Vietnamese, in a food court full of other options like Hungry Jack’s and Zorba Greek Street Food.

“The sushi place over the way started doing beef stroganoff bento boxes,” said the staff member.

“So we had to do something.”

One traveller from Ipswich told The Advocate he was delighted to see something familiar on the menu.

“I don’t trust anything too foreign, unless it’s blasted to within an inch of its life in a wok” said Brett Cartwright, en route to the Gold Coast for a bucks weekend.

“But this is all right. Could use cheese. Good honest finger food, I’ll be back.”

More to come.
