A Betoota Heights woman who just dropped a few thousand on her dream couch has unfortunately realised it will never live up to the $20 Disney Princess pullout couch she had as a kid, which she still thinks of fondly.

Mara da Silva, 30, tells The Advocate that she was ‘beyond excited’ to finally buy some nice furniture for her first ever studio apartment, after spending the past twelve years living in various share houses, multiple of which had office chairs and milk crates as living room furniture.

Having finally worked her way up the career ladder and into a position that allowed her to comfortably rent a place of her own, Mara says she celebrated her big one by doing the one thing she’d been itching to do her entire late twenties – buying something from West Elm.

“It sounds pretty sad if you think about it, but I’m so glad I was able to finally reach that milestone”, says Mara, “I’ve always wanted to buy new furniture!”

Mara says that after applying to several properties, she finally got approved for a small studio in the French Quarter – that has a separate bedroom!

“I’m so happy, not only is it a separate bedroom it also has wooden floors AND an internal laundry. Oh, and a bath!”

“Sometimes I feel guilty that I got so lucky.”

However, after splurging on the couch of her dreams, Mara says she didn’t end up feeling as satisfying as she’d hoped.

“Nothing beats that Disney Princess pullout sofa.”

“I think I’ll be chasing that high forever.”

More to come.
