A local man has spoken today of his deep desire to one day own a late model Lexus LX600 at some point in his life.
It would be a true indicator of success, according to Chang (Charlie) Wanquan, a semi-retired property and business investor. Despite living in the tightly-held, lake-side enclave of Betoota Grove, Charlie told The Advocate that he feels as if he’s not quite successful enough to order a new LX. It’s something he says is reserved for the titans of community.
“I have a Landcruiser Sahara at the moment, but it is 10-years-old in June,” he said.
“There has been the feeling that it might be the right time to perhaps buy my last car. I would very much like to buy a Lexus LX600. The top of the range model. That would be great.”
It’s not lost on Charlie that some a pair of tubby Baby Boomers would happily take the low-kilometre, fastidiously-maintained Cruiser off his hands for some truely absurd amount of money. So they can tow their caravan around the country and see bits of the outback they thought would be interesting. Or a young man with white dog shit in his head where his brain should be that decided to finance a used car.
“It’s true, I could get over a $100 000 for my car today that is 10-years-old. I paid $110 000 cash for in 2015. I love this country. But for a new LX, I would need to spend another hundred or so. The concept of YOLO is foreign to me. Perhaps I will look at one a few years old,” he added.
“But I would very much like one. It is my Ferrari.”
More to come.
