A local woman has had an encounter with the spirit of Anthony Bourdain after chucking a fried egg onto her 2 minute mie goreng.
The phenomenon occurred late last night when Madeline Thomas (28), a 7th year uni student, remembered she had one lone egg still sitting in her fridge.
Suddenly Madeline felt the rush on something that can only be described as channeling the spirit of a deceased chef that was beloved for his laid back but pragmatic approach to cooking.
Within moments of the egg hitting the frying pan, Madeline had the uncontrollable urge to light up a cigarette while sprinkling chilli flakes onto the pan.
“I can’t explain what came over me but I just know it had something to do with Bourdain…” Madeline explained.
The experience left the 28 year old with a deep longing to pack up her things and explore the far corners of the globe.
Unfortunately, her bank account gently reminded her that the farthest corner she could currently explore was the 7-Eleven down the street.
As she slurped up her instant noodles, she swore she could hear a faint voice whispering, “Not bad, kid.”
Madeline briefly considered documenting the moment in a pretentious food blog but ultimately settled for an Instagram story post
By the time she finished eating, the spirit of Bourdain had faded, replaced by the cold reality of an overdue essay and a sink full of dishes.
