A Brisbane bloke has come home to find his girlfriend curled up on the couch with another ‘spicy book’ recommended to her on Booktok, which somehow has an even worse title than the last one she read, it’s reported.

Arriving home early to prepare for the cyclone, Adrian Potter, 29, quickly realised that the reason Vanessa wasn’t answering her texts wasn’t because she’d been swept away in a flood, but because she was halfway through the latest book in Jennifer Trout’s ‘Mafia Queen’ series, ‘A Crown of Blood and Jizz.’

The book is said to contain a loose plot about a young woman who’s sold to a borderline abusive six foot five prince, who also happens to be a vampire werewolf hybrid and a member of the Italian mafia – and like many fantasy smut series written by women, the protagonist is nineteen years old, overly competent at everything she does, and somehow has womanly curves despite being described as malnourished.

But according to Vanessa, it’s not porn. There’s so totally a plot. Even if that plot is wedged between roughly 106 pages of eye-watering sex scenes.

“It’s not porn!”, she insists, just as ‘Ryderr’ is about to do something rather creative with his gun, “there’s a storyline, I swear!”

More to come.
