A local bloke is patting himself on the back this evening after pulling off a well-planned date night.

Having spent the last three years in a serious relationship with Tara Edwards, The Advocate understands North Betoota Heights man Jamie Kurtsworthy was hoping to surprise his partner with some much needed romance.

However after taking advice from his sister that booking a session at the indoor go-karting tracks wasn’t ‘quite the right vibe’, Jamie is believed to have taken a suggestion from his married mates and secured tickets to a Moonlight Cinema showing of ‘10 Things I Hate About You’, on the big outdoor screen inside Betoota Wetlands.

Buying the tickets with a Hoyts gift card that he got gifted over Christmas, Jamie reportedly decided he’d treat his partner Tara to the whole shebang and pick up a sushi platter and some Clinkers from Woolies.

Now parked up on a picnic rug with 45 other couples, also on date night, witnesses say Jamie looked pretty pleased with himself and his ability to roll out a blanket and treat his partner to two hours of the late Heath Ledger looking absolutely charming on the big screen.

“Ahah, how good is this!” piped up Jamie, as he stuffed two pieces of teriyaki chicken sushi into his gob and sipped a light beer.

“Oh babe this is lovely,” lied partner Tara, who had secretly been hoping that their three year anniversary would be celebrated with flights to Hamilton Island and a ring.

“Just so thoughtful…”

Cuddling up as the sun began to set and the opening riff of ‘Bad Reputation’ by Joan Jett began to blare across the stack of speakers, Jamie resisted the urge to text his mates and boast that his planning had paid off.

“What are we going to do next year?” he teased, looking over at the gold class seats that come with bean bags.

“I might have to step it up a notch!”
