A local girl’s Easter content schedule is in disarray this morning, as she comes to the realisation that not all country towns look like a Microsoft screensaver.

Staring out glumly across the barren front yard of her bushie boyfriend’s childhood home, Brisbane PR Professional Kelly Wilson (26) is starting to realise why her partner left Betoota to venture to University.

Her first trip to a country town further west than Toowoomba, it’s understood Kelly accepted an offer from her boyfriend Jarrod to spend Easter in Betoota, under the promise of a long weekend in a cute country town.

However after spending 24 hours in the township and struggling to find a cafe that sells plant-based oat milk, it’s believed Kelly isn’t likely to be leaving a 5-star Google review of any Betoota establishments anytime soon.

“When Jarrod asked me to come, I had big dreams of picnics amongst rolling green hills, maybe a little winery tour, and of course a photo of me in a pretty field of sunflowers,” said Kelly.

“But so far all we’ve done is visit his sleeping Grandma in a nursing home and had dinner out at the Leagues Club last night, and it was awful!”

“Try eating at a Betoota bistro as a gluten-free vegetarian, you think there was anything on the menu that tickled my fancy?”

Greeted in the kitchen by the unenthusiastic grunts of her hungover boyfriend, it’s believed Kelly’s been informed that her Easter Saturday is about to go from bad to much worse, learning that today she is being left to her own devices.

“Ummm well I’m going to play golf with the boys from school, so I thought maybe I’d let you explore town a bit?”, offered Jarrod.

“I was thinking I’d play 18 holes and then meet you at the Golf Club at 4pm and we’ll get a table going for the famous Easter chocolate raffle!”

“They might even have ‘Big Damo and The Bog Trotters’ playing a few sets tonight, you like Southern Swamp Blues don’t you?”
