The Gold Coast’s newest influencer has been busy hustling today as he attempts to cash in his newfound social media stardom.
After going viral last Friday for standing on Kirra Beach and capturing some hectic videos of the surf, Tugun man Finn “Rusty” Evans has been drowning in hundreds of new followers since the weekend.
Filming pretty gnarly 90 second videos of pro surfers carving up the Cyclone Alfred swell, Finn’s content was the kind Aussies around the country loved watching last week while they took a dump or waited for public transport.
Managing to hook a sweet 100k new friends thanks to his videos, the Finn is now doing his best to pivot from funny surf commentary into turning his new fame into a cash cow.
Posting to his story this morning, it appears Finn’s been signed up to a very pyramid schemey CBD oil company.
“ZenLeaf Naturals are 100% pure hemp goodness!” Finn posted.
“Are you struggling with sleep? Sex? Erectile dysfunction?! ZenLeaf is 100% BPA free. Use code CYCLONE to score 15% off for you and two friends.”
Speaking to The Advocate via the DMs, Finn admits he’s just trying to convert his followers into some form of tangible payment.
“Mate if I’ve learnt anything from the weekend it’s that scoring 5.5 million views on a video is great, but you can’t pay your rent with likes.”
“I’ve got about two weeks to cash in on this glow up before half the bots that followed me evaporate and I’m back to digging holes for my mate’s plumbing business”.
“I don’t even surf. And I’m not a video guy. I just had an iPhone in my hand at the right place and the right time”
“Cha-Ching!”
