As of 24 hours ago, The Home Affairs Minister has joined a long list of vulnerable detainees in several isolated offshore processing centres located in the oceans surrounding northern Australia.

The Member For Dickson announced on Friday evening that he had tested positive for coronavirus, after being tested earlier that day.

He was immediately transferred to the Christmas Island Asylum Seeker Detention Centre, which his office last month spent millions of dollars turning into a temporary quarantine station – because it has only held one family of refugees since August.

It ssems sickly Peter Dutton now finally has first hand experience with the experiences of the thousands of miserable people he has detained in sweltering conditions over the years.

Dutton is now hearing first-hand the stories of child self-harm on Nauru and Christmas Island, including poisoning attempts. These stories had been told to him countless times, but it seems he never really cared until he found himself in the same position as a non-white person who was unlucky enough to be born into a war-torn overseas country that had been destabilised by President Bush and John Howard in the early 2000s.

Even after only two days in Detention, Dutton is now well-versed in how life in detention affects the health and development of people facing prolonged periods behind bars, day in and day out.

Today, the Home Affairs office received a heartbreaking letter and drawing from the Liberal Frontbencher – which detailed his miserable existence behind bars for something he could not control.

In the letter, Peter Dutton begs the Home Affairs office to please let him off Christmas Island, which he believes exposes him to a worse standard of living than his illegally processed European au pair that lives on the open slab of concrete under his stilted multimillion dollar mansion in North Brisbane.

The letter is also accompanied by a drawing, in which Peter Dutton attempts to highlight his worsening conditions as pale bald man with ailing respiratory function in the scorching Indian ocean heat.

Dutton’s diagnosis has sparked concern that he could have infected members of cabinet, who met earlier in the week. There were also concerns for senior members of the Trump administration, including Ivanka Trump and US Attorney-General William Barr.

Peter Dutton’s office was contacted for comments on the letter Peter Dutton sent to Peter Dutton’s office but were told that Peter Dutton will not be commenting on the deteriorating physical and mental health of Peter Dutton.

MORE TO COME.
