The biggest night in showbusiness is here, with the Academy Awards now underway in Los Angeles.

Two Australians are in the mix for their work on period-drama The Favourite, with screenwriter Tony McNamara and production designer Fiona Crombie, who’s work on the film has been highlighted with an asterisk.

Nominations aside, there are still hundreds of Australians in the room tonight – as there is every year. A phenomena that was highlighted in 2017, when Hollywood actor Luke Bracey was spotted drinking a Woodstock 440ML on the red carpet. And again in 2018, when Margot Robbie went ‘full Goldie’ and stashed a goonbag inside her Chanel handbag.

However, as the night wears on, it’s not about which Australians are seated in the Dolby theatre – but who isn’t seated.

Three empty seats belonging to all three Hemsworth brothers have created a buzz for the media and nearby audience members – after event organisers noticed a sharp drop in volume in their aisle.

Channel 9 Entertainment presenters Richard Wilkins and Brooke Boney were officially asked by organisers if they had any idea where Luke, Liam and Chris Hemsworth may have gotten to, after several embarrassing camera pans showed their seats empty.

After nearly half and hour of searching, a panicking Dick and Bones say they later found all three brothers alive and well in the Dolby Theatre’s VIP gaming lounge, where they were seen punching keys on the brickies laptop.

“Nah we just ducked out for a quick slap” Liam Hemsworth told the reporters.

“We’ll head back in soon”

After being told by Boney to pull their heads in and stop embarrassing their home nation, Luke Hemsworth is believed to have told the reporters to chill out, and slid another fifty into Where’s The Gold.

“They were doing the foreign films” he said.

“Yawwwn”

“Tell me when Gaga is sing…. OI FEATURE!!!”

At time of press, Liam and Chris were seen bullying Luke into gambling his winnings on red.
