The Labor Party has been forced to dump their candidate for the Queensland seat of Yawannagokhunt after it emerged he had once worked in a blue collar profession, and may never been employed as a lawyer or consultant.

The Betoota Advocate can reveal before his December preselection, Jai Eggleston had previously posted social media photos of him working in a suburban mechanic garage, after dedicating four years towards learning how to fix cars as an apprentice.

It is believed that Mr Eggleston had worked in both client-facing roles, as well as pissant menial jobs like mopping and cleaning tools.

These posts caught the eye of newspaper journalists, who in turn called their ex-colleagues who now work as Labor press advisors, for confirmation.

On Sunday, the Labor Party took swift action, telling The Betoota Advocate that Egglestone was no longer a candidate, and that the parties had distanced themselves from him.

A Labor spokesperson says there does not look to have been any evidence of the candidate fabricating his CV, but rather the party and his local branch had accidentally overlooked the fact that Egglestone may have previously worked with his hands.

“This oversight is shared between both the candidate, the party, and the branch that pre-selected the candidate to run in this semi-rural electorate of mostly tradespeople and agricultural workers” said the spokesperson.

“While we understand Egglestone may be representative of his local electorate, he does not represent the modern Labor Party”

It is not yet known if Egglestone will withdraw from the race, although political pundits believe that he may still run as an Independent or a minor party candidate.

It is rumoured that the Katter Australian Party may look to recruit him into their ranks, as a predominately regional Australian political party that still maintains close ties to the labour movement in Australia.

Egglestone was approached for comment by a number of news networks, but his authentic working class vocabulary distressed the political reporters, who thought maybe it might be wise to not give him a platform.
