If Matt Rickman’s friends needed reminding of how much of a tight-arse he is, the fact that kick ons have been interrupted by 3-minutes of back-to-back advertisements was the nail in the coffin that his reputation needed.

Matt is a 30yo with a full-time job and a salary of $100,000 a year, yet he still refuses to pay $11.99 a month for Spotify Premium, which in this day and age is basically a human right rather than a luxury.

It’s understood that the entire group was in the middle of an early 2000s rap medley when the interruption took place.

The Advocate managed to have direct contact with one of the party guests, who were not impressed with Matt.

“What a spoon! Who doesn’t pay for premium?

“He’s a fully employed adult, only teenagers put up with regular Spotify”

Our reporter also managed to have a quick word with the offender, Matt, to see how he was handling the situation and why on Earth he doesn’t just fork out the extra dough.

“Fark, I didn’t realise it was such a big deal”

“I don’t have premium because I hardly listen to music”

“I think I might get it now just to avoid this kind of ridicule”

“You’d think I’d dropped a case of beer or something the way everyone was carrying on!”

Despite Matt saying he was going to upgrade to Spotify Premium, a source who works in accounts at Spotify has informed The Advocate that he has not upgraded – so he still remains a tight-arse and is now also a liar.

More to come.
