Brisbane’s new sporting precinct will rival some of the world’s best stadiums, the Queensland Premier says.

This is terrific news for a local tradesman, who is going to buy several beach houses and put his kids through Bond University off the back of the imminent construction works.

Local tradie, Bill Jolly (48) is an expert in niche building shit involving glass. He reckons this is going to be a fucking picnic.

More than four years after Brisbane won Olympic hosting rights, it was confirmed that Victoria Park will be home to a new 63,000-seat venue for the 2032 Olympic Games and beyond.

It will eclipse Suncorp Stadium to become the biggest venue in the state, and will be able to host both cricket and AFL, which means the historic Gabba cricket ground on the southside will be razed and turned into apartments.

$650 million will also be spent on an Olympic Swimming centre at Centenary Pool, which will feature a new 25,000-seat stadium.

On top of this, there will also be an Athletes Village, as well as a vast number of different buildings that will host media, VIPs and the more unorthodox sporting arenas.

The Brisbane Olympics have been a contentious issue ever since the former Premier decided to put her hand up as the only bidder at the height of the pandemic.

Queenslanders, as a whole, aren’t as interested in showing themselves off to the world as Sydney was in 2000, and couldn’t really give a fuck about being at the centre of the universe for two weeks in 2032.

With both conservatives AND lefties absolutely filthy about this multi-billion dollar brain snap that will unnecessarily turn Brisbane into an international city, there is a small segment of the population who are getting around the 2032 games.

Tradies like Bill.

“This is going to pay like a motherfucker” he said.

And it’s even better that it needs to be done fast hahaha”

“An absolute fucking picnic. I’ll set whatever price and whatever timeline I want and these mugs are going to cough up”

“This is as good for me as you think it is. I’m going to become a multi-millionaire off the back of this.”

“This was a great idea!”
