In yet another example of a New South Wales Premier having to step down from their role due to a corruption investigation, Gladys Berejiklian has today announced that she will resign as soon as the Liberal Party can elect a new leader and will also resign from the NSW Parliament.
The Premier has delivered a heartfelt resignation today, in a press conference that took priority over Scott Morrison’s euphoric accouncement about international borders or some shit.
The corruption at the centre of the Independent Commission Against Corruption investigation is related to that same deadshit MP who Berejiklian has previously admitted to having a “close personal relationship” with for five years during her time in cabinet.
The former Liberal fuckboy was the local member for Wagga Wagga in southern NSW for nearly 20 years.
The ICAC is investigating whether Ms Berejiklian breached public trust when she awarded grants to several community organisations between 2012 and 2018.
It will hold public hearings later this month to investigate whether there was a conflict between Ms Berejiklian’s public duties and private interests when she was in a personal relationship with the then-MP Daryl Maguire.
While Berejiklian is not the first NSW Premier to resign over corruption, and certainly not the first Liberal Premier, she is in fact the first to resign over a bad boyfriend.
At this late stage of the pandemic, it is dumbfounding to think that the NSW Premier has been brought down by one of the dumbest men to ever walk down Macquarie street.
Speaking to the media today, Hot Mess Gladys says she needs to quit this bullshit job to focus on herself.
“Sick of toxic people” she said.
