A local Melbournian cricket fan has expressed his sheer delight at the prospect of another Test Match at the MCG this summer, just weeks after the last one.

“Uhhhhhh yes please,” enthused long-time cricket tragic, Darren ‘Dazzler’ Davidson.

“And it’s the first ever Day Night Test match at the G baby.”

The cause for excitement comes in the form of the historic Women’s Ashes Test in Melbourne, the first ever day night installment of a long form cricket game at one of the spiritual homes of the sport.

The belter test match comes off the back of the Aussie gals coming through clutch in the series so far – following some seriously elite performances with the bat and ball.

“I’ve barely had time to wash the last lot of beer stains out of my favourite cricket shirt and now we get to go again,” laughed the bloke whose favourite hobby is sitting in a hard plastic chair with half a litre of sunscreen on his face while he watches 12 people watch a person bowl a Kookaburra.

Davidson, a self-proclaimed ‘cricket nut’, said he’s been champing at the bit after the 4th Test match in the Border-Gavaskar series.

“Watching the Poms bake in the sun before Pez and the girls get the pink rock swinging around under lights is about as good as it gets.”

“A pretty good way to wrap up the silly season if you ask me.”

“Few of the boys are locked in, and a couple of em have the kids coming, so it should be a bit tamer than it was on boxing day,” he laughed.

“Besides, they’ve got a sick lineup of artists too. Something a bit different.”

Starting things off on Day One (30 January) is the iconic Australian artist, G Flip, followed by the ARIA award-winner, Sampa the Great on Day Two (31 January).

Wrapping up the excitement on Day Three (1 February) are the vibrant sounds of Kinder.
