In breaking news out of Queensland this morning, Reece Walsh will wear the #1 jumper for the Maroons after narrowly beating Kalyn Ponga in a strip show contest.

The Advocate understands the fullback role has been causing major headaches for coach Billy Slater, as Queensland was forced to weigh up choosing between the reliable Origin vet Kalyn or unleashing Brisbane’s hottest new sex icon Reece Walsh into the representative arena.

Despite being plagued by weeks on the sideline, NRL pundits were expecting Ponga to hold onto the jumper as the incumbent fullback.

However, in a shock decision that was made public this morning, Slater has reportedly chosen Walsh for his ability to entertain heaving Suncorp Stadium crowds with his pretty sick swan dive tries.

However as both players are graced with buckets of natural talent and devilishly good looks, it’s understood Queensland selectors made the players conduct one last fight for the jersey via a Magic Mike style contest.

WhatsApp rumours are circulating that selectors Darren Lockyer, Kevin Walters and Gene Miles joined Billy Slater in a private booth at Kenjin Nightclub in the Valley on Sunday evening to watch both players strip off for the jumper.

It’s believed the selectors’ wives were also invited, as well as a mini-bus load of cougars from Noosa Surf Club to offer balanced judgement.

Ponga reportedly took to the stage with a sexy coal mining themed display where he paid tribute to his Newcastle based club by wearing a high-vis vest and hardhat, which he also wore to protect himself from any on-stage concussions. This was before pivoting into a more ‘Townie’ streetwear character, complete with flat brim hat and bandana.

However with the team being announced this morning, it has been confirmed that Walsh wowed the crowd with a thirsty bucking Bronco act, which he began by wearing cowboy chaps and gunbarreling his dreamy hazel eyes directly into the soul of Slater.

Speaking to insiders in Blues Camp, Coach Brad Fittler is stressed at the prospect of his injury prone players like Tom Trbojevic going up against the hot-to-trot fullback.

“Mate I don’t care who they pick,” said Fittler.

“We are fucked either way. These boys are hot!”
