NSW Police are today picking up the pieces down in Western Sydney after they made over 2.5 million arrests last night in the wake of Penrith’s historic grand final win.

Speaking to the media this morning in Mount Druitt, the state’s police commissioner Mick Fuller said that arresting the entire population of Western Sydney for ”repeated and brazen” violations of the public health orders.

“It’s certainly put a strain on the correctional facilities in the greater Sydney area,” said Fuller.

“But from our point of view, it’s just very disappointing that we had to arrest every man, woman and child, young and old, in Western Sydney,”

“It was harsh but appropriate action. Even though we’ve broken the back of this so-called superflu, we still must be vigilant because we still have a week of it being a big deal,”

“If only the people of Western Sydney would learn from their well-behaved cousins to the East.”

More to come.
