The race for the leafy Northern Sydney Electorate of Warringah has taken a dramatic turn today, with the Australian Labor Party unveiling a big name candidate for the seat.

Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has revealed that disgraced former Labor MP Eddie Obeid will be running for the party at a federal level.

The move comes despite Eddie having served 3 years in jail, and currently being out on bail for a 3 year jail sentence relating to corrupt behaviour involving mining leases.

Speaking to The Advocate this morning, Albanese explained that if Morrison and co want to run Gladys, then they’ll be dropping in an ICAC associate from state politics too.

Spanning from Kiribilli up past Manly to Brookvale and Allambie Heights, the traditional Liberal held seat is currently in the hands of Independent MP Zali Stegall.

However, in an effort to win back the seat that is usually held by the blue tie party, the Liberals revealed they are pushing for former Premier Gladys Berejiklian to run.

The move raised eyebrows given she’s is the subject of a current ICAC investigation into her behaviour, which could potentially reccomend that she face criminal charges – something that isn’t ideal given she could be a sitting member of Federal Parliament in a few months.

However, regardless of that, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has led the push for the election of Gladys, claiming the ICAC investigation was a ‘kangaroo court’ and ‘a pile on.’

The Trumpian effort to just dismiss legitmate legal questions about accountability as a leftie witch hunt, has since led to Labor firing a shot of their own.

“If we just won’t to ignore the fact that allegations of corrupt behaviour is pretty crook, well Eddie’s our guy,” said Albanese today.

“He’s a mover, a shaker, and he’ll get it done for Warringah.”

“He just got caught up with a dodgy bloke”

“He’s not a bad egg, so vote for Eddie!”
