The AFL is today in crisis management, as the league prepares for the most lopsided finals in the game’s history.
With the finals makeup being locked in at roughly 8:20pm AEST last night, the head honchos at the Melbourne Private School Old Boys club are drastically trying to find a way to make the next month entertaining for viewers.
This comes after the Carlton Blues stormed into the first week of finals off the back of one of the most comprehensive performances in recent history.
It means that the finals is now pretty much a forgone conclusion, with the Blues set to comfortably wrap the season up with a few victories on the trot.
Despite surrendering the lead to the lowly St Kilda Saints with 12 seconds left on the clock and sweating on a Freo loss to Port Adelaide in the last game of the round, the Blues head into the finals as strong favourites.
The finals birth is the second in as many years for the bench press king Michael Voss, who has steered the Carlton Blues out of the finals desert, and now likely into the last weekend of September at the MCG.
Local Blues fan Gan Dorringe explained to The Advocate that he throughly enjoyed a relaxing Sunday afternoon watching his team coast into the finals.
“Never in doubt,” laughed the long suffering Bagger.
“I really can’t see how we lose it from here.”
“We’ll be having Lion up at the Gabbatoir this weekend thank you very much.”
“And then we just win four on the trot and bring that Premiership Cup back to its rightful home.”
“It’s been in Collingwood for 11 months too long.”
