A Capalaba dad has spent this morning frantically preparing for what is shaping up as one of the most significant weather events in recent history.

Wayne Woolf (66) confirmed to The Advocate via a very brief video call with the top right corner of his head, that he’s been rushing around to get everything in order ahead of Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

“Yeah mate, fairly sorted now aye,” explained Woolf just seconds ago.

“Just got back from the shops with enough supplies to survive for 6 weeks, but more importantly, I got on top of the yard and the gutters before this Cyclone sets in.”

“Just not sure when I’ll be able to mow it again, so I wanted to run the blade over it,” said the semi-retired sparky, who mowed his immaculately curated lawn on Saturday morning.

“Big relief to get it sorted.”

Wayne’s comments come as the South East Corner and the Northern Rivers prepare for the Tropical Cyclone.

Tropical Cyclone Alfred is expected to make landfall on Brisbane’s Northern Suburbs, and “might be the most significant system” for the Gold Coast since 1954, with the possibility of up to a metre of rainfall in the hinterland.

Premiers, mayors and emergency services personnel, and the one remaining national syndicating news service that costs a few cents a year have urged a raft of different precautions.
