Actor Guy Pearce has explained his Logies absence last night, telling fans that he got caught up making dinner and simply lost track of the time.

The Most Popular Actor winner said he had every intention of attending the Logies last night but found himself sidetracked making a nice risotto.

“I thought I had time but you know how time-consuming risotto is to make,” said the naturalised Victorian.

“It was a bloody Jamie Oliver recipe, one from his book of lies. The 30-minute meals one. Tell you what, I should’ve known better. Any risotto worth eating takes much longer than half an hour to make. Mine ended up taking nearly an hour!”

“Don’t get me wrong, it was very nice and was worth it. I just wish Jamie called the book “Recipes That Might Take An Hour And Will Make Every Pot And Pan In Your Kitchen So Dirty You Might Have To Throw Them All Out And Start Again” because that’s largely been my experience,”

“Oh yes, the Logie. Well, I was just about to put my suit on and head down, well, it would’ve been hard from London but you know, they read my name out and well, I just wasn’t ready. I was still dusting dinner with Pecorino Romano,”

“Next time, I’ll give myself enough time to do both. Thank you to TV Week for, yeah, everything.”

Mr Pearce’s management said that would be it for comment on the matter and wished The Advocate well.

More to come.
