EARLIER THIS AFTERNOON,  former prime minister Tony Abbott received a telephone apology from Wyatt Roy, one of the maverick MPs who conspired to oust him from the top job in favour of Malcolm Turnbull.

The gracious move has all but guaranteed that the Caboolture-native has been crossed off the 58-year-old’s “To Kill List” – a loose collection of names of the people who undermined him.

Speaking candidly to The Advocate this afternoon through lipstick-smudged lips, Mr Abbott said it’s all in the past now and he’s looking forward to rebuilding his relationship with Roy.

“Ah yes, mate. It was a great pleasure to receive that phone call from Wyatt. I was very cross with him for putting me through hell, but we’ve both come out the other side and I still have a job,” explained Abbott.

“But to put it bluntly, he was on my hit list. He deserved what was coming to him, but I’ve forgiven him and I put a line of cherry lipstick through his name then slumped back on the couch and sighed,”

“Then Cory [Bernardi] came over about an hour ago and we got stoned. We listened to Cosmic Dancer by T. Rex on repeat while we reminiscent on the old days,” he said. “It was nice.”

The Advocate approached Mr Roy’s caravan for comment over today’s revelations, but have yet to receive a reply.

More to come.
